Kindergarten is an exciting time for children’s learning! This is a time in a students’ education that lays all of the ground work to help a child succeed throughout their life in work and school. Our full day Kindergarten program has many subjects covered throughout the year, maintaining a fun and academic environment.
The writing curriculum helps the children learn how to properly hold pencils, color from left to right, and how to write their letters using the Carden format for forming the letters.
Our sounds are also a key point in the children learning. In our class we learn the consonants, letter blends and the Carden vowel chart, as well as spelling words every child should know by the end of Kindergarten.
Math covers a breadth of material as well. We learn how to write our numbers, how to add and subtract 1-4, place values, money, telling time, fractions, as well as beginning the first grade Language of Numbers book.
Reading starts with the basic stepping stones needed to produce great readers for life. The children will learn how to read aloud as well as learning to listen and developing their comprehension techniques. The reading curriculum also focuses on getting ready for school and cutting and pasting. We finish off the year with the nursery rhyme graduation readers.
Science in Kindergarten is great! The class focuses a lot on the Earth Science. Students will learn about farm animals, insects, weather, trees, cooking and much more.
Kindergarten also looks at the creative side of life by taking time to learn about and create art that mimics famous impressionists such as Van Gogh and Monet.
