Pre-Kindergarten Program

Admission Policies and Procedures

Carden Pre-Kindergarten will accept children two years and nine months through four and one half years of age. The child MUST be completely toilet trained before entering school. The size of each class will be limited. Enrollment will be open to students without regard to race or religion. In accordance with Title 22, children shall not be accepted who are physically handicapped or emotionally disturbed to the degree that they cannot benefit from instruction, and/or the school is not able to meet the individual needs of the child. Children with discipline problems that require special attention may be referred elsewhere.

Admission to Carden School of Sacramento's Pre-Kindergarten shall occur following a conference with the Carden School Director.

Our hours of operation are 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Charges are assessed to parents/legal guardians who leave their children at school beyond the regular school day closing time. A $20.00 fee is assessed for each 15-minute increment beyond 6:00 p.m. Please refer to your new parent handbook for the calendar dates the school will be closed.

Each child MUST be accompanied by the parent to and from the child's classroom. It is MANDATORY for the parent to sign the child in and out each day. No child will be released to an unauthorized person, even if the child knows the person. Please notify the teacher or office verbally or in writing, if the child is to be released to someone other than the parent/legal guardian.

The parents/legal guardians will provide all transportation to and from school and on field trips. A permission slip for your child will need to be signed for each trip.

Each child will be checked for illnesses each morning before being admitted to class. Should a child become ill while at school, the parents/legal guardian will be called and requested to pick up the child.

If the child is injured, the parents/legal guardian will be called immediately. Should the injury need immediate treatment, the directions given by the parents/legal guardians on the Emergency Information form will be followed.

We will administer medication to your child only with a doctor's written instruction. A prescription written on the bottle is an acceptable written instruction. The parents/legal guardian must sign a permission slip in order for the teacher to administer any medication. Make sure that the medication is given directly to the child's teacher. No over-the-counter medicines will be administered without a doctor's written instruction.

Your child will need to bring a pillow case containing a crib sheet, an indoor, child-size sleeping bag or blanket for rest time. The sleeping bag will be sent home each week for laundering. It is recommended that an extra set of clothing be available in each child's cubby. Please label all clothing with the child's name and put in a plastic bag. Children WILL NOT be allowed to bring toys to share, or to keep in their cubbies. Soft sleeping toys, special blankets and pillows may be brought for the children who nap with us. Please be aware that ALL personal items brought from home must be clearly labeled.

Each child will bring a lunch, and refreshment for snack time in the morning and afternoon. Good snacks are fruits or vegetables, string cheese, crackers, juice, milk or half a sandwich.

Identification and Emergency Information, Physician's Report, Immunization Records, and current emergency telephone numbers must be on file before your child can attend school. All other forms shall be completed and returned within thirty days of enrollment.

Welcome!
