GabrielleThe sixth grade class is doing a recycling project to earn money for the homeless shelter, so they can have a nice turkey dinner for Thanksgiving. We are collecting bottles and cans and taking them to the recycling center. We are going to get the money we earn from the bottles and cans and go buy turkeys for the homeless shelter. We will be taking the bottles and cans to the recycling center every other Friday. I am working with the fifth grade class. I have learned that many people are unfortunate and have some medical problems. I hope the people will be happy when they receive their turkey dinners. I want them to be happy. SophieOur wonderful teacher, Mrs. Pillay, asked us, the sixth grade, to spearhead a recycling program. We are collecting bottles (glass and plastic) and cans to raise money to buy turkey dinners for the poor, homeless, and needy. I am in charge of the Pre-K, three year olds and four year olds. The Pre-K class room has set up a box for the recyclables that the children bring in. Our due date is next Tuesday. We would like for the children to bring in at least ten bottles or cans by next Tuesday. We are learning how important it is to keep our earth clean and healthy. Please help! The whole school is helping! You can make a difference! Brandon6th grade is doing a recycling project and we need your help. The reason we are doing this is because we are going to help the homeless and we want to save the world. For you who don't know what class I'm talking about, I am talking about 3rd grade. You students have been doing really well. We need all your cans that you have by this Friday. Remember keep on saving! JaydenThe sixth grade teacher, Mrs. Pillay, has started a recycling program. The whole school is participating. Each student in the sixth grade is assigned one class. That student goes to the grade assigned to them and talks to them about recycling and our plan to take those bottles and cans to the recycling center. Once we get the money, we will go to the store and buy a Thanksgiving dinner for the poor, homeless, and needy. I am assigned the seventh grade, so I talk to them about our plan and try to convince them how important it is to recycle. We need to recycle to save our earth and keep it clean. The whole school is helping to make this project a success. You can help too! Together we can make a difference! |
Taylor ROur teacher, Mrs. Pillay, has started a recycling program at our school. I, Taylor R., am working with the fourth grade class. We are recycling cans, glass, and plastic bottles. We are doing this because we are worried about our Earth because our trash is dumped in the earth. The benefit is we are going to take the money we earn and buy turkeys for the less fortunate. We are trying to make a difference for our Earth and our people. TabathaThe 6th grade is recycling for the homeless shelter so we can raise money for them for Thanksgiving so they can get a turkey dinner so they don't starve. We are collecting bottles and then we will go to the recycling center and give them bottles and they will give us money in return. Every Friday we will come around to your class and get the bottles and cans from you. The class I am working with is the 1st grade and they are doing very. They are helping us and we thank them. What we hope for is that the homeless shelter will get all or most of the turkeys they need to feed the homeless. ZoeOur class is doing a recycling project to raise funds for families who can not afford money for Thanksgiving turkey dinners. The recycling program helps prevent landfills. We are requesting each class to bring in bottles and cans. We will be collecting the bottles every week. I am working with 8th grade. I have been encouraging them to bring in 10 bottles or cans per student. I learned that it is very important to recycle. Taylor M.Our class has learned so much this last couple of weeks. We’ve learned to be grateful for what we have. We are recycling for the homeless or the families that don’t have Thanksgiving dinners. We will be recycling bottles and cans. Please clean the bottles and cans and I will come every week to collect them. I am working with Kindergarten. Each student will need to bring in at least ten cans a week. Then we will have one thousand cans from the whole school each week. AshleyThe sixth grade is recycling for the homeless and poor people. The reason we are doing this is so we can give them a Thanksgiving dinner and give them food. We are helping stop landfills. What I have learned from this is that anybody can make a difference no matter what age you are. What I hope for is that more people will start recycling. |

6th/7th/8th Grades Visit California Caverns
By Kayla, 7th Grade
On Thursday, September 13, 2007, the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade classes went on a field trip to the California Caverns. It was a very exciting trip in my opinion. We left at about ten and arrived there at about one. The bus ride took FOREVER!!!!!! First, we got lost and went down the same road about five times, we ran out of gas, drove to Lodi, and had to eat lunch on the bus. It was still fun, even though we only got to spend an hour and a half at the caves.
When we got there, we waited for our tour guide. When she got there, we had to walk a quarter of a mile just to get to the caves. The caves are about 53 degrees year round. It felt really good to get out of the heat. It was all wet and cold inside the caves. There were a lot of rooms with names. One of my favorite rooms was called the “Bridal Room.” It had all different things that referred to weddings. There was also Winnie the Pooh. I have no idea why he was in there, but he was still cute.
One of my favorite parts in the cave was when they turned out the lights. It was really creepy. You could not see anything at all! After that, we went through a tunnel called “Tall Man Fat Man Misery.” It was really narrow and short and I had to bend over really far. After that we exited the cave and went gem mining. The gem mining was really cool actually. I found a lot of different rocks and minerals. We ran out of time and it was time to go.
I had a really fun time at the caves. It was my second time, but I liked it just as much as the first time I went. I hope everyone else had a good time too. If I had a choice to go again, sure, I would go. It is really cool to see what's beneath us.
