Quebec Trip 2006

When we arrived in Montreal City, we went to retrieve our luggage and everyone picked their's up except Mr. C. His luggage didn't make it, I guess. We were greeted by our tour guide, Richard. He was very nice and a native of Quebec. It was very late at night so everything was dark and we got to see the city at night which was really cool.

We all checked into our hotel and had a good night's sleep. We woke up in the morning not-so-well rested and went to breakfast. After breakfast we all piled into our bus and began exploring Montreal.

We stopped by the Olympic site to see if we could ride the feniculare but it was under construction. So we explored some more and saw some little private schools. Then we stopped for lunch in a little restaurant. The food was really good. Later, we took about a two hour bus ride to Quebec City.

We checked into our hotel and put our luggage in our rooms and went to dinner. After dinner we went to see a show called the Quebec Experience. That was an interesting show because it showed all of the history of Quebec. The next day we went to old Quebec city and got to go shopping for almost four hours. I made a little Build-a-Bear there and had a great time. After we shopped, my mom and I went to get some food at this little tiny crepe shop. I got a crepe with cheese and apples. After the lunch I got a caricature drawn of myself by this funny French guy and his miniature poodle. It was a pretty good drawing of me. After all of us shopped, we got back on the bus and got ready to go to a dance on a ship on the Saint Lawrence River.

The dance was really fun. I met about ten girls from Ontario. I think the boys mainly stuck together but I went with the girls. We danced to a whole bunch of songs but my favorite was the "Cha-cha Slide". The adults were in a separate room where the music wasn't so loud.

The next day we went to the Montmorency waterfalls; they were cool but I thought that we would get wet but we didn't. That's okay though, because the rest of the trip was great!

We all went to the "Sugar Shack" and ate very traditional food. They started our with a pea soup. ( I added a little maple to it ). Then they brought out ham, sausages, beans, meat-pies, and bread. Meanwhile this nice man was playing the accordion and singing.

After a while, the man got most of the kids and some of the adults up and we did the "chicken dance" to the music of the accordion. After a little bit of the "chicken dance" we did folk dancing (VERY INTERESTING!!!) After we had crepes with maple, we saw how they harvest the maple. They take 35-70 year old trees and harvest the maple.

We also got to go to a school. There was a whole group of kids who were older than us. The two people who I met were 15 YEARS OLD!!!!!! my goodness. They were very nice and they both gave me their e-mail adresses. We had a lot of fun but before we went into the school we were all worried. ( But it turned out okay.)

Overall, I loved the trip. But I was really bummed out about the waterfalls because I thought we would get really close to them, but we didn't. In short, I loved the trip and it was very enjoyable.
