Monterey Trip, May 2006

By Delaney, 6th Grade

On May 1, 2006, we, the Sixth Grade class, went to Monterey for a three day field trip. We went to study tidepools and to study sealife. We also went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We all had a wonderful time.

On the first day we visited the tidepools. We saw some kelp and sea anemone. We didn't go too much into the water because it was freezing.

On the second day, we went on a beach run at five o'clock in the morning. We found a lot of sand dollars. We even saw some crabs. The scenery was beautiful. Afterwards, we went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It was enjoyable. We saw tunas, ocean sunfishes, even penguins, different kinds of jelly fishes, and many other animals. Some of those fishes, such as the tunas and the ocean sunfishes, were huge.

On the third day, we went bicycling and snorkeling. The bike ride was thrilling. It lasted several hours. Later, we went snorkeling. The hardest part was to put on the wetsuits. We all had a great time snorkeling. That was our last activity in Monterey for we had to leave the next day.

Our trip to Monterey was exciting. My favorite part of the trip was the tidepools. I can hardly wait until next year when we get to go to Washington D. C. or to Quebec.
