On April 30th to May 3rd, our 6th Grade class went to Monterey for Science with Mr. Peña. It took 5 hours to get to Monterey, but the scenery was great. We stayed at the Best Western Hotel with up to 3 classmates in the same room. After we arrived at Monterey, we put our stuff in our rooms and went to either Chinese or Mexican food and then we went to the tidepools. The next morning, we went on a morning jog. After our jog we went to the aquarium and saw many interesting animals and plants. We then went to "Dippn Dots" and ate ice cream. We went back to our hotel and ate pizza. The next day was my favorite day. We drove down to the bike rental store and each took a bike and a helmet. We all rode on the side of the beach and went to the lighthouse which was closed. We rode back to the bike rental shop and went in the other direction. We rode to McDonalds and then back to the bike rental shop and returned our bikes and helmets. The parents drove us to go put wet suits on and it was hard. We all went and swam in the water or looked at the sea kelp forest. Mr. Peña found a starfish that was purple. After that we went to Bubba Gumps and ate food. We also went souvenir shopping for our parents. The next day we had to leave. We drove to the Mystery Spot and some of us ate cheese flavored larvae. In the Mystery Spot some people were taller than others and it was hard to walk. After that our class drove to the Boardwalk and went on a lot of rides. We had to go home at two. I had a really great time in Monterey.

On April 30, I woke up and was so excited about the trip. For 4 days I would be away from home having a joyful time. We met at school, then we left. It was a four hour drive from here to Monterey. At about 1:30 we arrived at the Best Western Monterey Inn. After we checked in, we headed to Asilomar Beach where we explored the tide pools. We saw many amazing animals including starfish, seasponges, sea anenomes, and millions of hermit crabs. When we got back to the hotel we put on our bathing suits and went to the heated pool. We all had fun in the pool. We played Marco Polo and tag. We all went to our rooms and we watched TV and then went to sleep. We woke up and ate at the contenental breakfast. After that we walked to the aquarium. We saw jellies, 50 types of fish including sharks, sardines, and ocean sunfish.

Last week, the sixth grade class went on a field trip to Monterey. We stayed there from Monday April 30th to Thursday May 3. We went bicycling, snorkeling, tide pool exploring, to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and to the Mystery Spot and Santa Cruz Boardwalk. My favorite part was the tide pool exploring. We went on Monday, right after we got to Monterey. In the tide pools, there were lots of animals. We saw starfish, hermit crabs, sculpin, and sea anemones. Hermit crabs and sea anemones were the most plentiful. It would have been better if it was low tide but it was still fun.
Devon:
On April 30th, after our long 4 hour ride down, we looked at some of the tide pools at Asilomar Beach. It was so cool. It was high tide so the waves came crashing up on the rocks and almost knocked a couple people off. The water was super cold and numbed your feet if you were in the water for too long. There were Aggregating Sea Anemones everywhere. At first, I was scared, because I didn't want to kill any of them. I figured that it was almost impossible to walk on the rocks and not kill at least one. There weren't very many starfish. We only saw about three. They felt hard like a rock and came in all different colors from purple to orange, yellow to red, almost every color of the rainbow.

I had been looking forward to our Monterey Trip all year long. Now, its over. I had a really good time though. We went on Monday, April 30th through Thursday, May 3rd. We did a variety of activities like snorkeling, a bike ride, tide pool explorations, visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and spending the day at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk and the Mystery Spot. I think my favorite was the bike ride. You got a really good view of the ocean and you also got some exercise. It wasn't a really hot day out, so it was pretty cool. I also liked the snorkeling. It was VERY hard to get the suits on, but all the work paid off. I had a lot of fun playing with my friends in the surf. The Boardwalk and the Mystery Spot were equally fun. I learned a lot when we went to the tide pools and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I also liked all of the neat restaurants and gift shops that we visited during our trip. I really liked our trip and I can't wait to go to Quebec next year!

Last week the 6th grade class took a four day trip to Monterey. We went to the tide pools, biking, and snorkeling. We went to the aquarium, the boardwalk and the Mystery Spot. We stayed in the Best Western Monterey Inn. I shared a hotel room with Devon. The hotel had a pool and served breakfast. The bike ride on the coast was a lot of fun. There was one area where you're right next to the ocean. We rode up several steep hills to a light house. We never got to go into the lighthouse because it was closed. Devon, Colby, Olivia and Rebecca took a four person bike and didn't go to the lighthouse. The bikes were all messed up. My chain fell off, and so did Arash's chain. On the way back we stopped at McDonald's. Overall, the bike trip and the rest of the trip was really fun.

On April 30th, the sixth grade class went to Monterey. We did many different things such as snorkeling at the coast guard pier, bike riding by the shore, going to the aquarium (Monterey Bay Aquarium), and exploring the tide pools. My favorite part of the trip was the snorkeling at the coast guard pier. Even though it took about an hour for everyone to get the wetsuits on, we still had a great time. We got to explore the kelp forests, and we saw two starfish and many different sea anemones.
Olivia:
Monterey was a wonderful trip to take because it combines fun and learning together so it doesn't seem like you are just learning. The Aquarium was very informational because it told about all of the animals and where they live and what they eat. At the Aquarium they have a large pool that has the sunfish, sharks, large tuna, and turtle. They also had a pool that grows kelp. They put all of the animals in it that would live in the kelp. We also found out that kelp is used in many things like toothpaste. There is this tank that water rushes in and it scares you. You can go under it and it looks like it is going to hit you. They also have a touch pool ware you can touch all of the animals but you can not take them out because they are living animals. It is very fun and has alot of fish in it so I suggust that you and go to the Aquarium and have fun and see fish.
Philip:
On this trip I got to see many different things. One of my very favorite things to do was the Mystery Spot. All of the class really enjoyed the Mystery Spot because it was just that, mysterious. I feel all of the objects have some chemical compound that can make them rise and fall. They would make some people become the same height as others while they started off at different heights. They also could make a ball roll up hill. That is the end of my story of adventures from the Mystery Spot.
